Barn on the Bay – A Northumberland Coastal Festival Wedding

As the sun set over Druridge Bay in Northumberland, a gathering of over 80 friends and family from across the world, starting the celebrations with BBQ, drinks and frisbee. Choosing The Barn on the Bay for a weekend full of laughter, emotions and pizza, these guys threw one hell of a wedding. 

Starting on Friday night, most of the guests chose glamping in the teepee village (supplied by Northern Star Teepee), overlooking green fields and the bay itself; the atmosphere was straight out of Glastonbury. With the pandemic and family travelling from Denmark to Scotland and beyond this was the first time that many of the family had met. Friday night gave them the perfect chance to catch up, meet and start the wedding celebrations early. Barn on the Bay provides the perfect setting for weekend long festival style weddings, space for tents, food trucks, outdoor games and anything else you need. 

The wedding day itself started with a gorgeous beachside ceremony, the couple walked with their mums to meet in the middle (a wonderful moment) and ended with everyone walking across the dunes back to the barn. Choosing a relaxed day with a pizza van instead of a more formal meal, bubble guns, football and more laughter than I have seen in a long time the day was everything I love about people and weddings. 

The couple both made a speech and talked of acceptance, family and friends and their wedding day couldn’t have felt more in line with that. Finishing with a dance floor packed from start to finish it was a pleasure to be part of the day and the nicest testimonial topped it all off.
