East Yorkshire Barns Wedding

I had been waiting for this East Yorkshire barns wedding ever since I heard that Jaime and Paul were engaged. I knew Jaime from school (quite a while ago!) and she recently worked at York Hospital with my little brother. So of course when I heard that Paul had asked the question I had my fingers crossed they would love my style and want to book me.

They have always been the nicest people and I knew they would want a relaxed wedding, and that’s exactly what they had. I love barn weddings so when they told me they were having an East Yorkshire Barns Wedding I couldn’t wait. To add to that they chose the stunning Selby Abbey for their ceremony, one of the nicest churches in Yorkshire (in my opinion).

Getting ready I spent the morning with Jaime at her house in Selby. All her bridesmaids were in full swing when I arrived and the morning was a great laugh. My assistant Emil spent the morning with Paul and the boys, who enjoyed shots for courage (apparently) before heading to the church.

Selby Abbey Wedding

I grew up between York and Selby and Selby Abbey sits in the heart of the town of Selby. It’s a stunning church with history that dates back to 1069. You can read more about the history here. Anyone who has visited Selby will almost certainly see the abbey as it sits in the heart of the town. It’s a fantastic backdrop for any wedding ceremony and it was my first time photographing a wedding there, and it didn’t disappoint!

The ceremony itself was lovely and included readings and made the most of the top half of the abbey. The couple left the abbey to confetti and greetings from all their friends and family before heading to East Yorkshire Barns.

East Yorkshire Barns

I love barn weddings and although I have photographed all over the country, I believe Yorkshire has some of the best wedding barns. East Yorkshire Barns is the perfect example, set in complete countryside this stunning setting has everything you want from a rustic wedding setting. Fields and open space, barns to party in and even a vintage tractor! The whole day was amazing, the weather, speeches, band and even Ralph the dog made an appearance.

The dance floor was exactly what you always want, full with everyone dancing and really enjoying the band and DJ all night. Of course I was captured from getting ready until late evening, all in my natural, documentary wedding photography style.

Congratulations again to Jaime and Paul, such an amazing couple and amazing wedding. Thanks to all the staff at the East Yorkshire Barns who were fantastic on the day and all the other suppliers who made the wedding what it was.
